Cultivating a culture that rewards the greater good.

We define our community as our family of dedicated associates, the customers we serve and all the people who live and work in the communities where we operate. We have over 2,400 associates in 19 states and two Canadian provinces. We make investments in our people and our communities. From structured leadership training programs to community volunteerism and employee and corporate giving, we are committed to being the first to help.

Our goal is to continuously seek ways to partner with our customers, associates and community organizations to give back in ways that build better futures for those in need.

Caring for social causes nationwide

Since giving back is so important to us, we volunteer our time, donate our personal financial resources, make in-kind contributions of our high-performance products and give selflessly year after year.

Education, health-related causes and community services, including housing for veterans, are the focus of our philanthropic outreach. Recipients include American Cancer Society, Teach For America and Ovarian Cancer Research Fund along with support for local groups including Project Lift and the Arts & Science Council in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Purple Hearts for Homes & Gary Sinise

We partner with the Gary Sinise Foundation and Purple Heart Homes to build adaptive housing for our most severely injured service men and women. The homes are designed with some of our donated products and are built to accommodate their injuries to create an environment in which families can thrive. We have provided in-kind materials and worked on-site to build homes for veterans through Purple Hearts for Homes and the Gary Sinise foundation.

Lighting Up Cancer Research

It is no secret National Gypsum has a strong reputation for serving the community, and the relationship with the Charlotte Leukemia & Lymphoma Society serves as a powerful reminder of the company’s commitment to helping others. In the Charlotte Headquarters office, there is no better ambassador for partnership between the two organizations than Change Specialist George Kutcher.

The involvement began in 2007 when Kutcher was asked to participate in a community service project. A simple volunteer agreement quickly turned into a leadership position for Kutcher. Only a few hours after he agreed to participate in the 2007 Light the Night walk, he received a phone call that would catapult him from participant to team captain, a position he still maintains today. After watching both of his parents battle cancer, Kutcher realized how the National Gypsum team could make a difference for all of those impacted by cancer.

In the past 12 years, National Gypsum has raised more than $70,000 for the Light the Night walk. When asked what drives associates to participate and donate each year, Kutcher says, “it’s just part of our culture. We have a strong culture of giving, and it really shows forth in the associates.” From bake sales to football squares, Kutcher has witnessed associates show their support throughout the years.

Winkleman Quarry welcomes Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society

We invited the Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society to our Winkleman, Arizona Quarry (Phoenix area) to rescue various species of cactus from the 120-acre plot, the company will mine later this year. A team of trucks and volunteers transplanted all sorts of plants ranging from large saguaros to succulents that could fit in the palm of a hand.
